I’m Yendi — artist, inventor, and the creator of Yendi’s 3-in-1 Comb.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, I was deeply immersed in the world of art. Creativity has always been my driving force. But like many people with textured hair, I faced a very real, daily struggle: tangled hair, a sometimes sore scalp, and frustrating grooming experiences caused by tools that simply weren’t designed for hair like mine.

THE TURNING POINT

During the COVID-19 pandemic, something clicked.

One morning, I woke up with a clear vision of a hair comb that could make grooming easier and more enjoyable — especially for thick, highly textured hair. Inspired, I grabbed a large wide-toothed comb from my vanity and made a simple modification by adding beaded tips to the teeth.

When I tested it on a textured wig, it worked beautifully. Even more surprising, it provided a soothing scalp massage and glided through my locs without getting stuck. That’s when I knew this wasn’t just another comb — it was a real game changer.

FROM VISION TO REALITY

I began researching to see if anything like it already existed. After visiting beauty supply stores across Los Angeles and searching online, I discovered that this three-in-one design was truly unique.

I consulted a patent attorney and filed for both utility and design patents to protect the invention.
